Post by: Stevenson on June 08, 2018, 12:01:18 PM
Any DDR machines available in FL?  Preferably looking for a DDR 8th mix / DDR Extreme

Wish I could say I’d ever part with my DDR Extreme. You’re welcome to come play it anytime!  Good luck on the hunt!

Thanks for the invite, but hopefully with my own machine I can play at home. Yeah, Extreme is what I am looking for.  I wish I started this search a few months ago, there were many locally. I've only found collectors who appraise them much higher than they are worth or selling bootleg Extreme machines.  Its crazy that its cheaper to buy one from Chicago and ship it to FL.

What are they worth?

i thought DDRs pulled stupid good money for the last decade.

good luck with the search. we've had quite a few threads on them over the years.

@DK, Its hard to say but this is about 10hrs worth of research condensed here:

Since there are 16+ versions but the quick answer is USA versions are typically the cheapest, followed by Euro, Korean and Japanese.  The older editions 3rd - 8th (extreme) are between 500-1.5k.  Supernova is 3k though these typically kill the attached Hard Drive yearly and only the MFG can replace @ $400 a pop, so i dont understand the premium.   DDR X2, X3 USA variants are near worthless as they reverse engineered the cabinets so they damage easily during moves, and they replaced the custom CPU enclosure with an off the shelf dell pc and supposedly are problem plagued.  These are the least wanted by players.  Anything newer than X3 requires an online subscription from Konami to run @ $20,000 per machine yearly.  Its possible to play them in offline mode, but Konami locked the machines down to something like 60% locked behind their subscription service.  The newest version DDR A i dont think even has an offline mode available.

Then, to make matters worse there are bootleg Chinese machines posing as DDR machines which are actually Chinese Pump It Up knock-off machines that have had DDR internals added to them and bootleg DDR "upgrade kits" you have to watch out for.

that's some damm research. :)

those prices seem to match my foggy memory on the few that have traded here.

if anyone ever reached out to me to sell one, i'd offer to take it away for free. then pass on the info to the village. :)

you can all have your nightmare cabinets, skeeballs, DDRs, konami simpsons turtle back breaking machines.

I've been looking almost a week for a machine.  Forgot to mention they are 950LB assembled.  and most recommend a crew of at least 4 to even move them.  Some say you can do it with 2 people, a dolly and a uhaul ramp, but that sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

those who say you can do it with 2 people, have never done it with 2 people. :)

we moved a ferrari f355 challenge tri monitor. 4 people, broke it down, had to levitate the damm thing above a guardrail outside of the business, and it was ALL a nightmare. :P

It took a few years of searching before I found the one I wanted.  The Hunt is half the fun!!!

you can easily set it up with 2 ppl and a truck with a liftgate. If you don't have a liftgate it may be a different story since I dont know if the truck ramps are wide enough, but I only use trucks with liftgates b/c I'd rather not kill myself or the equipment. I'm not a big guy but I set it up by myself once which was no fun. You just have to take the top piece off to fit it thru any standard doorway. The hardest part for me was lifting the top piece and putting it back on top of the machine, bolt it down, and connect the wires inside. DON'T FORGET to bolt it down to the main cabinet (which I forgot to do once and have a scar on my head as a reminder), other than that the rest is like moving sep pieces which are all on wheels as long as you have wheeled access its not too bad.

Does anybody know anything about DDR Megamix?  I cant find anything about it online.

@WTF, when you say software, you mean what exactly?

Depending on the version, I came across 8th, Extreme, Super Nova and X.

The systems are encrypted to high heaven and require a special drive that already has the boot loader installed if I remember correctly.

I'll hit you up if I end up with a non-Extreme machine.  Thanks!!!

Forgot to mention they are 950LB assembled.

We had one for a while. I moved it at least three times BY MYSELF and decided it had to go.

It sat in our conditioned warehouse space most of the time because of it's size, but I remember moving it once for a New Year's Eve party and one other time for a gaming convention.

It was on casters and the machine itself was not that difficult to push around, but the dance pads were brutally heavy and awkward AF.

Never again ...

I think this is at least the third WTB thread I've seen here in the last couple of years for a DDR.  Crazy how just five or so years ago you could have bought several in a day, but it's been quite some time since I've seen one for sale though admittedly I don't search CL that often.

Good luck with your search!

Yeah - I've been looking for the right DDR for awhile now. Still looking too. Let me know if you find extras! :)

My kids love it - so thought it would be a good one to pick up.

It was very entertaining at SFGE.  Some of those folks were really good.
