Opinions, (don't laugh)
« on: February 11, 2012, 03:36:10 PM »
I played a Hollwood Heat pin at the APE show and actually thought it was a fun pin. Cool captive ball, mini playfield. Why does it get such bad reviews? Other than the fact it's a Gottlieb.

Outside of the artwork I don't think it's a bad pin. The faux Miami Vice vibe is why it gets a bad rap. Outside that I'd call it a decent player, not great, but not the dog that it's portrayed to be.

Sure the translite kinda sucks but I like the rest of the artwork. There are alternate translites out there though. I like the whole 80's retro Miami Vice look and bright colors and flamingos, I faithfully watched the show every week. Anyways I played one years ago and remember it as being fun, hell Steve Ritchie said that Hollywood Heat was his favorite Trudeau game.

Mine should be here in a couple of weeks.  :)

I played it yesterday at APE to see why it gets such a bad wrap. Aside from the ugly faded out back glass and gay Miami Vice rip off it was kinda fun. My first ball lasted at least 10 minutes, or so it seemed. The captive ball/ pop bumper is neat, the little ramp where you jump onto the mini playfield is cool and overall game play and playfield layout is pretty good.  That's it, I'm buyin' it .

You needed 7 bills for the one at the ape. Plus 6% + 10%.

Wow, those definitely are not Raven numbers. What kind of shape was it in?
