Well, I've actually known that for years, it's actually common knowledge for Bat afficianados and/or collector's of Batmobiles and fancy cars... but thanks for posting, it's a cool story to know how the original Batmobile came about, and probably something they should start teaching in grade schools.  They should have entire courses on Batman, like Batman 101...even all the way through college for the more advanced students. :)

Ever noticed what is said in the Batmobile as its started up?  Batteries for power, turbines for speed. The rear bumper has 2 parachutes attached. It was a concept car, made with a turbine engine, Ford deemed it dangerous as a flame shooting from the rear as it takes off.  Motor specs are classified. It probably could have set a speed record at that time it was built. Chrysler made a few and destroyed them.  Give it wings and it might fly, lol.

WHAT???  I always thought they said "Batteries TO power, turbines TO speed".  This changes everything, this could affect the entire plot of every episode.  I'm going to have to go back and watch them all again now.
