DRAGON'S LAIR ARCADE
« on: December 13, 2017, 01:57:25 PM »
I would like to build or have built a Dragons Lair Arcade game to original specs. I'm going to need a pc machine w/ xp and daphne on it. Then I will also need the circuit board which you can map keys to joystick, player buttons etc. Anyone have any advice or resources as I get this project off the ground?

Thanks,
Dan

Hey, it's me, the one who directed you here.

I recommend https://www.ultimarc.com/ for the circuit board for buttons/joystick. Hopefully someone here can chime in on Daphine and Windows 10 capability/results as well as necessaary hardware specs for a good Daphine experience. I am pretty sure you can get this working without a CD but using an image file instead.

original spec would not use a PC...  :P

He is trying to best replicate an original... more so on the outside.

for shits and giggles.. how did the original operate with the LD player? did it use a custom ipac style design to wire into the LD player?  I never actually thought of that until now.

i think you will need a pc with a serial port to make the displays work.  if he doesnt have a cab he should be prepaired for a long journey to make this happen.  those cabs and parts dont come up often.

the original DL had a small CPU board that interacted with the LD player.
the DL2 cpu board actually was a 186

there is a Pi version that will work with the external display
