Looking for a Pinball Board Repair Tech
« on: January 01, 2018, 10:13:21 AM »
I have about 7-8 pinball boards that need repair (a couple MPU’s, a few driver boards, ranging from Sys 9-WPC) and my guy in Seattle that I regularly shipped to is super backlogged and can’t take any more boards right now.  Is there anyone in the southeast that can take on a batch of repairs?  We can pay the shipping and can pay for the repairs, but I have a bunch of pins that are down and in need of these boards.  Anyone available to do these in a relatively quick period of time (over the next month)?

i do, but i am slammed currently and not taking any more repairs.

i do not do sys6-9 without a machine.. and they have to have no acid or burn marks.

wpc95 is not an issue, but again, no acid damage.

Atari Jim comes to mind but he is usually as busy as Bill. I have used Clive at coin operated cauldron to fix a lot of wpc cpu and drive boards.  He is in SC usually turns them around in 2-3 weeks very happy with his work and communication skills. But Bill and Jim are my first choice.

Danny,  there's a lot of.... Well badness in the world today. I see it in the court everyday. I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber.... didn't want to do it.... felt I owed it to them.

Ed Cheung in Maryland does excellent work on System 3-11 boards.  He has a quick turnaround but is a little pricey.

I exchanged messages with Ed Cheung about a board six months or so ago and, at the time, he offered to turn around the repair in about week.

I don’t believe Ed Cheung works on anything later than System 11 games.

Same boat as above.  Glad to do the repair but not without that era game around for testing.

nobody looks at acid damage.. people will work on it, but they will charge you regardless if its fixable or not, and offer no warranty of repair.

and for good reason.  it's really difficult to rid a board completely of the contaminants and it takes so little to go forward and cause new damage.  I've done repair on acid damaged boards, but really only for my own games or with the understanding that the fix might be good but the board has a long term prognosis of dead.

I may soak mine in gas. :o

it's sad that it does 95% of what you want an MPU to do.

except start a game.
