Japanese Symphony of the Night - value? Potentially for sale
« on: January 30, 2018, 07:53:10 AM »
I can’t tell what this is worth with what’s available on eBay. I can see what the English versions are going for but can’t find a japenese one. Thoughts?

I bought it in Tokyo in the late 90s when I had a modded PS1.  I don’t have anything to play it on now so I’d be willing to sell it if there’s a collector out here that’s interested.

If you dont have a Set price you are wanting to get for it.. just plop it on ebay start it at $9.99 and let the market determine the value.  I personally dont have a "collection" of vintage games, let alone japaness imports - so for me, I would pay $10 just to have it and say I do.. but no real INTEREST..

otherwise if you are like.. well I FEEL that its worth "x" then start the bids at that and see if you get it.. worst case it sat on ebay for 7 days and didnt go anywhere.. you didnt loose anything.

have to agree with eBay and "let it ride" :)

they have sold for 27 dollars with shipping used. there is one on eBay now for $799...

I have a lot of japan imports for the NES, and the N64, and a couple no-release titles for the PS1, as well as Japanese only JDM laptops and software, but haven't gone beyond the early 2000s for such collectibles. good luck.

eBay kills the, "cool, I got my hands on this", value on everything.

Thanks for the advice everyone.  I don’t have the patience to sell on eBay and I’m not in a hurry to get rid of it so I’ll hold it for now. I was mainly curious if a collector on here was looking for it. It was probably my favorite game on ps1 so it has some sentimental value and doesn’t take up any space.

Generally speaking the Japanese version of games will be worth a bit less than their US counterparts. (Exceptions exist of course)

The original US PSX Sympony of the Night goes for around $60-$70. Looks like the Japanese version is about $20-$30, at least as far as the great eBay is concerned.

If you wanted to sell it, probably list it at BIN of $25 and see if that works.

Cool.  Thanks for the intel. I’m still going to hold onto it for now. If it was worth a lot of money I’d be more motivated.

Yeah sometimes it's better to just sit on things and wait and see.

Symphony of the Night is easily the best Castlevania and the fact that you bought it in Japan is really cool.. I'd hang onto it.
