Pinball Hall of Fame
« on: March 07, 2018, 01:06:30 PM »
I’m heading to the Pinball Hall of Fame today and was wondering if anyone had any must plays while I’m there. It looks like they have over 200 pins right now and I won’t be there all day. Personally, I’ll be looking for a few EM favorites and wanted to know what else I should tackle. Thanks.

Been there a few times and nothing sticks out in my mind.  They do have a cool token punch machine there, I made some custom tokens a while back. They have most of the Sterns there and some hard to find Williams games like Cactus Canyon, MM, etc.  They also have Batman 66 which is cool.  If they have a Dialed In play that, I thought it was super fun when I played it at Pinball Lounge.

Was just out there for Nationals.

Just walk up and down the aisles until something grabs you.  There are various eras of games.  I gravitated toward the 2" flipper games.

What I found out is that several of the replay values on the EMs were not accurate.  I showed the lady attendant my scores which were clearly above the listed replay value, but for whatever reason it was not awarding a game. (Press the credit button and nothing).  She said that it should have given out a game and they would look into it.  She offered to give me money for the credits I should have earned.  I told her I didn't need it, I just wanted them to know for people who would be expecting to be able to play another game from beating the score.

There is another place not far from there called Flipperspiel. That was where the Nationals were held.

This is the one I'd want to try, if only because there were so few made. I heard someone is working on a remake, but who knows when that will be available, if ever.

The last time I was there, I spent most of my time playing classic Gottlieb ems that I had not seen in many years.  I actually went from machine to machine, leaving credits behind when I won them, just so I could play a greater variety of games.  I would concentrate on the older games, as the newer games are lot easier to find on location or at collector's homes, but that is just me.  Given your fondness for Jacks Open, you might look for that game and other similar titles to see if there is something you enjoy that is easier to find that Jacks Open.  Have fun.

They say Popeye nearly put Williams out of business.  This definitely would have  ;)

The older EMs are in great shape for the most part.  Have fun!

Well it was fairly disappointing. I played the EMs with a few exceptions and my hopefuls(Jacks Open, etc) were down. Lots of tombstone drop targets and their EBD randomly scores drops that weren’t hit and it’s call outs were blank.

The only plus side was they have the fastest Cleopatra EM I’ve ever played.

I have been there and for what’s it worth
There’s one guy maintaining 200 plus machines
Kind of hard to maintain and keep them all running flawlessly

There is actually more than that. I saw two women working on KISS while I was there.

They have somewhat of a 'crew' that helps out but mostly to help keep the doors open.  Hard core maintenance does happen but not on a daily basis there.  When its really busy, the crew just runs interference with the customers.
