YAF Harbor Freight Lift Thread
« on: May 29, 2018, 03:18:57 PM »
So, I have the 500lb lift and want to hook it up. I've read the required inside threads, but almost all those threads use the older model. The new model changes the way the handles mount and it makes things a little more interesting. So, would y'all mind posting some pictures of your modded HF lifts? I'm suffering from a bit of analysis paralysis and could use some inspiration. Thanks.

is this inspired from that harbor freight lift at a home where we had no idea how to modify that wacky handle setup?  ;)

Yessir. After dealing with that I know I don’t want to be in that situation again. :)

I'll send you pics of mine tomorrow.
My Brother fabricated a set up for it.

It works very well.

Just picked up the 1000lb one and it's a beast but works well.  I've used it for all sorts of stuff besides pinball.

I'm contemplating this route because I don't want to go too and heavily modify the cart. Without access to someone with welding experience, I feel like my options are limited.

Randy did a cool mod using a fixed caster wheel frame, but the handle attach point is much lower on the newer model and not level-is with the table. I would have to add a piece of pipe/cut the handle and then it would interfere with the action.

I just sent photos to K7 to post for me. Hopefully he can get them up soon. My Brother built a special bracket machined from aluminum with welded joints. I know it will be beyond most people's capability but it might generate more ideas.
I think the two ideas presented above are great options also.

I modified the option previously posted with ubolts for stability and a longer cable for the release. No damaging mods so I can do something different down the road if need be.

It’s not perfect, but it will do. Now I think I need to modify the table to better support a game.

I used the Casters wheels on mine, remove the wheel, drill a hole through the post and connect the handle to the top of the caster with u-bolts.  No welding required, been using it for 3-4yrs, make live much easier.

I tried that first, but holes for the handle are much lower on this model and the handle wouldn’t lay down.
