Most beatiful or cool looking Classic Arcade games
« on: June 17, 2018, 11:55:34 AM »
Ok, last month I started a question on what people thought we're the most difficult or challenging classic arcade games.

Now the question is what do you think are the coolest looking cabinet or design wise games? Total package?

I know a lot will say EDOT so let's  think of many others! 😀

I'd say Universal had a few cool looking games that should be near the top of the list.

In no particular order:

Space Wars - The buttons and cab design. Felt more like a computer than a game.

Gauntlet I/II: 4 player cab, great art, great sound. Was the center of the arcade universe for months when it came out.

Tron, EDOT, of course.

Star Wars - Cab art and shroud were amazing, so was yoke

Hard Driving was pretty amazing at the time

Crossbow - Big, unique sounding, and a freaking crossbow

Venture - Something about it was very dark and stylized, stark. Wish I could find one.

Scramble - Killer art

Xevious - When fully lit (most had burnt out lights over the CP)

Battlezone - Cool look, great controls, viewfinder.. what's not to love

4 Player Cyberball

SF1 with Pneumatic Buttons

Outrun Deluxe

Wacko

720

All great inputs! I'm in agreement with them all!

I'll add a couple more:

Omega Race - both the upright and the full sit down.
Just great total package art and theme.

Missile Cammand - again upright and sit down.

Gorf

Original Asteroids and even Deluxe - something about them.

Space Duel. Cab really growing on me and great Marquee and sideart.

And yes the Universal cabs especially Cosmic Avenger and Cosmic Alien with all the art all over. Cosmic Alien is just a piece of art.
Mr. Do with that lit back piece!

Satan's Hollow.

Two games come to mind for me.

- Ghosts n Goblins
- It’s not really “classic” but I remember thinking Stun Runner was beautiful.

I see Ghosts and Goblins as sort of Classic.
I'm just thinking 70's to 80's mostly.

Loved Ghosts and Goblins and that also qualifies as one of the most difficult.
