How about it - you go in and tell them you're from the vendor.

Take out a Ms Pac Galaga combo or a SSB and put in a Jakks Pacific Special with a tv set in an old cabinet  Grin

"Oh, it's just filler until we get your other unit fixed..."

Quote
Most of the machines are worth between $3,500 and $5,000.

As taken from the insurance claim forms no doubt!   Grin

I was sooooo tempted one time.
There was a MM at a Turnpike plaza in Miami a few years ago. It was dirty, but in good shape.
Get a fake Business shirt and walk in with a replacement ( Striker X, etc. ) and a fake invoice.
Video surveillance and the fact I was chicken sh*t were the only 2 things stopping me.

Grow a goatee, hair grown out with a trucker hat low on the eyes, fake eyeglasses, Colorado license tags purchased off ebay, fake magnetic signs on your truck...

Like plotting the perfect heist, video cameras be damned!

Not sure if it's the same one, bc the one I played there was more than dirty, it was actually a little beatup, but restorable.. Merlin hole was struggling, areas in front of castle beatup, etc.  But I talked to the operator of it in 2003, back when decent MM's were going like $4k.  He told me he'd had offers of $5k (at that time, for that machine, total bs!) but I offered him $3k, and he wasn't interested.  This was about a year and a half before the insanely mint Treasure Cove MM shocked everyone by going for $7k and began a MM price staircase that hasn't really stopped.

But yeah, I'm sure he's had so many calls over the years that he actually overvalues it now, if he still has it.
